Our Facilities

Our Winnipeg Funeral Home Facilities

A Beautiful Place to Share Cherished Moments

At Neil Bardal Funeral Centre, we take pride in our comfortable and modern Winnipeg funeral home facilities. Designed in 2008, our contemporary facilities were built with our families’ needs in mind. From the moment you walk through our doors you’ll notice that our facility feels as comfortable home.

Our space is flexible, allowing for multiple set-up configurations for a wide range of funeral service options. The Great Room is the perfect setting for gatherings large or small. With a capacity of up to 350 people, it is ideal for funeral services, memorial services, receptions, or other community events. For smaller gatherings the space can be split, with one side offering a traditional chapel-style set up and the other offering a living-room style set-up for a comfortable reception after the services.

The Garden of Memories offers families that have chosen cremation a sanctuary where the returns of their loved one’s cremated remains can be returned to the earth, and provides them with a space to return to later should they wish to spend time in their loved one’s resting place.

Located just minutes from the Winnipeg James Armstrong Richardson International Airport, across the road from Brookside Cemetery, and a short drive from downtown, our facility is convenient and offers ample paved parking.

EXTERIOR

When we considered the expansion of our crematorium to a full service funeral centre, this quote from John Ruskin was our inspiration:

"Therefore, when we build, let us think that we build forever. Let it not be for present delight, nor present use alone; let it be such work as our descendants will thank us for, and let us think, as we lay stone upon stone, that a time is to come when these stones will be held sacred because our hands have touched them, and that men will say as they look upon the labor and wrought substance of them, 'See! This our fathers did for us.' "

- John Ruskin

COMMITTAL SERVICES

There are two methods for final disposition; cremation or burial.

We support the belief that it is equally important for committal prayers to be said over the body prior to the cremation, as it is for these prayers to be said at the grave.

We have provided the space for having a committal prior to cremation, where the clergy and family can be present as they would be at the graveside.

FAMILY / VIEWING ROOM

GARDEN OF MEMORIES

The Garden of Memories is a beautiful space located on the grounds of the facility. It serves as a place for families to spread the ashes of their loved one and return them to the Earth. Many families chose to return to garden to pay respects to loved ones and spend time at their final resting place.
Traditionally, in the village setting, a church bell would toll to indicate a death in the community and the ritual of caring for the dead would unfold. This involved family and friends who assisted in preparing the body, building the coffin, and digging the grave, while the priest would give last rites, comfort the mourners and lead the procession to the grave yard for burial. In our contemporary society, we, as funeral professionals have taken over the responsibility of caring for the body on its path from the place of death to the grave. The “Garden of Memories” provides a respectable means of reverently returning the body after cremation, now in its purest form, back to mother earth. The simple act of following the edict “earth to earth, ashes to ashes, and dust to dust" in an eternal resting place conducive to such a ritual now exists, with visiting rites on any Sunday thereafter, in every season.

Not a cemetery, not a grave but a sanctuary, a special place to perpetuate the memory of someone very special in our lives.

"Not to change what was meant to be,
but provide a means for it to happen naturally."

The Garden of Memories is open for visitation by appointment.

Tours and Seminars

Neil Bardal Funeral Centre offers the opportunity to know more about the funeral process. From seminars on pre-planning, to tours of our facilities, we provide information that will answer many of your questions. We have welcomed church confirmation classes and religious groups, graduating high school classes and health care professionals to tour our facilities, where we teach as well as learn. Seminars and tours remove much of the mystery that surrounds our industry by giving us an opportunity to explain what we do and why.

More importantly, it gives those participating the ability to tell us their thoughts and stories. It's the best way for us to continue to provide services that are both meaningful and relevant.

We invite you to explore our Winnipeg funeral home facilities through our virtual tour. Should you prefer an in-person tour of our facilities, we invite you to call us at 204-949-2200 and one of our staff members would be happy to set up an appointment for a tour. If you have any questions about our facilities, or about any of the services that we offer, we invite you to contact us at 204-949-2200 or info@nbardal.mb.ca.
